I'm also a bit of a mod addict. There is an amazing mod community for Minecraft. After discovering the Technic Launcher, I'm thrilled to be able to utilize some of the most well-loved mods in the game easily. I've added some of my other favorites to the launcher too, and I'd like to share with you how that's done.

If you're unfamiliar with the Technic Launcher, it's a free Minecraft loading program that comes complete with several of the best groups of mods for the game. Once installed, there are several variations of mod groups to choose from. I initially played extensively on the Yogbox setting, but having a personal history with the older Myst games, I just had to try out Technic. I LOVE Technic. It's awesome. I can't imagine a better way to play Minecraft - accept of course if Technic was updated for the newer version, and all my other mods I've now installed were updated too, but I digress.
The Technic Launcher may be downloaded from the Technic website at www.technicpack.net. Be sure and click the green rectangular download button on the upper right hand of the screen that reads "Download the Technic Launcher", and NOT the add at the bottom for 7-zip!
It's simple to download and should work for you immediately. SOME systems require a bit of troubleshooting, but simple Google searches of your problem should yield solutions or workarounds if you're having trouble utilizing the launcher. It's requirements are similar to Minecraft, so if you can run Minecraft on your system, the Technic Launcher shouldn't be a problem.
Now, to install additional mods into the Technic Launcher is actually more simple than installing them into vanilla Minecraft! Open your computer's roaming/appdata folder by clicking Start, then typing %appdata% in your computer's "run" dialog box.
Open up the .techniclauncher folder, and then the technicssp folder (or the folder for whichever launcher mod set you're playing)
and then finally the Mods folder. This is where you will be placing your additional mods.
Simply download your mods and place the zip files or whatever files you happen to download for each particular mod into this folder. That's it!
Now, keep in mind that not every mod will work well with the mods already a part of technic launcher. I have the following mods installed in my launcher, and they work quite well. They will all be featured in my lets play videos!
Ariadnes Thread - Provides you with a "thread" of light that trails behind you as you cave, giving you something to follow back home so you never get lost. Look for the "old versions" spoiler, and follow the link for the 1.2.5 version.
Better Dungeons - Exactly what you think this mod might provide - awesome dungeon additions to your game.
Forestry - Automate tree farms, pumpkin & melon farms, etc. Also, keep and breed bees!
Fossil Mod - An interesting mod that allows you to be an archeologist, digging for ancient artifacts. You may also find dinosaur DNA and breed dinos of your very own ala Jurassic Park! My Fossil Mod isn't working exactly as it should, but I'm hoping to solve that issue soon. Be sure to use the link for the 1.2.5 version.
Twilight Forest - My latest installation, but not a new mod at all. Create a portal to the Twilight Forest dimension and adventure in a new world full of interesting plants, mobs and more. Under "old versions" I downloaded v1.10.0
Keep in mind that the Technic Launcher is currently running on Minecraft version 1.2.5. When you download mods you'd like to add to your launcher, you'll need to download the version of the mod for Minecraft 1.2.5, and not for ANY other version! I was able to install all the mods listed above on MY SYSTEM using the methods detailed above. Here you can see the mods Ariadnes Thread and Better Dungeons installed into my Technic Launcher (basically the exact files I downloaded pasted into the mods folder in my technicssp folder).

On another note, if you get tired of Mo'Creatures, especially the fact that squids no longer spawn because of it and you're FORCED to cheat ink sacks into your game (ok so I occasionally cheat, but if there's no video evidence you can't prove anything), you can simply remove the mo'creatures mod from this same folder. You can re-install it by downloading the 1.2.5 version if you ever decide to put it back. I don't know anyone who's done anything like this though. *whistles innocently*
